    What is Resveratrol and OPC?<\/h2>\n
    Resveratrol and OPC are so-called secondary plant compounds, also known as flavonoids. These are particularly found in fruits, leaves, or tree bark. OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins. They predominantly appear as pigments. Plant pigments not only serve as attractants and signaling agents, they also frequently perform a protective function.\n<\/div>\n

    Where does it come from?<\/h2>\n
    The polyphenols were first discovered and described by the Frenchman Jacques Masquelier. He proved that these secondary plant compounds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. He developed a process to extract OPC primarily from grape seeds and pine bark. OPC is also found in peanuts, ginkgo leaves, apples, coconuts, and tree bark. Red wine grapes, more precisely the grape seeds, contain the highest concentration. Red wine contains more OPC compared to white wine. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Where is resveratrol found?<\/h2>\n
    So far, over 70 plant species containing resveratrol have been discovered. The highest content among plants is found in Japanese knotweed<\/span><\/strong>. That’s why we source our main ingredient from this very plant. <\/p>\n

    Among foods, grapes, cocoa, raspberries, plums, and peanuts are among those with the highest resveratrol content. Even among grapes, the content varies by variety. Grapes that are more susceptible to pests and grow under difficult weather conditions contain significantly more resveratrol. <\/p>\n

    Foods and beverages made from these mentioned ingredients also contain polyphenols. The resveratrol content is also high in red wines and grape juices. Red wine, ros\u00e9 wine, and even white wine contain much more resveratrol than grape juice. <\/p>\n

    However, it’s still best to obtain the secondary plant compound directly in its natural form from grapes. To truly get the antioxidant effect, it’s more advisable to prefer grapes with seeds. The effect is significantly lower in seedless grapes. <\/p><\/div>\n

    What is the difference between trans-resveratrol and OPC?<\/h2>\n
    The polyphenol resveratrol occurs mainly in two forms in nature: the trans-form and the cis-form. These are so-called isomers. These compounds have the same number of atoms but in different spatial structures and arrangements. This means that cis-isomers are polarized (electrically charged) and therefore water-soluble. Trans-isomers, on the other hand, are non-polar and therefore fat-soluble. The more stable form is trans-resveratrol, which is why it’s used much more frequently in dietary supplements. <\/p>\n

    The secondary plant compound OPC, on the other hand, occurs mainly in grape seeds and is merely one component of grape seed extract. OPC belongs to the antioxidants that locate and capture free radicals in the body. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
