The hot stone is excellent for placement and is often used for actual massage. Basalt is a basic (low-SiO2) igneous rock. It mainly consists of a mixture of iron and magnesium silicates with pyroxene and calcium-rich feldspar (plagioclase), and usually olivine.

Basalt is a basic (low-SiO2) igneous rock. It mainly consists of a mixture of iron and magnesium silicates with pyroxene and calcium-rich feldspar (plagioclase), and usually olivine.
Basalt is the volcanic equivalent of gabbro (plutonic rock), which has the same chemical composition.
If it’s genuine basalt, it’s usually dark grey to black. It mostly consists of a fine-grained groundmass. Coarser phenocrysts, visible to the naked eye, are relatively rare but can occur more frequently in some basalt varieties.
The appearance of cooled basaltic lava primarily depends on two factors. Erupted lava cools quite quickly into a cohesive rock structure, solidifying as pahoehoe lava or aa lava depending on temperature and gas content. However, if cooling occurs slowly, the contraction often creates angular basalt columns (columnar basalt) several meters long, which form perpendicular to the cooling surface, preferably with a hexagonal geometry. A rarer form of basalt is spherical basalt, which is typically found at the edges of basalt deposits.
Basalt is also a common rock on all terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) and the Moon. Many meteorites also have the same chemical composition as basalt. With their help, we can draw conclusions about the formation of our solar system. According to ancient writings, basalt has also been used as a healing and pain stone for thousands of years. Our ancestors effectively used basalt against many types of pain (back, foot, hand, arm, leg, head, and joint pain) and for many other ailments.

Heat the basalt stone (oven, fireplace, etc.) and place it body-warm on the painful areas, relax, and wait until it cools down. The soothing effect will surprise you, and the pain relief will delight you.
How many stones should I buy?
This depends on the circumstances. How large is the painful area? Does your partner also need a stone? With 2 to 3 stones of this size, you’ll almost always be spot on.
