The Moringa Oleifera Tree – The Full Power of Nature
The Moringa plant is something truly special, almost unique.
What is Moringa?
Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree from the Moringaceae family, native to the Indian subcontinent. Common names include Moringa, drumstick tree, horseradish tree (after the taste of the roots, which resembles horseradish), and ben oil tree or benzolive tree. The plant is widely cultivated for its seed pods and leaves, which are used as vegetables and as food supplements. Moringa is also used for water purification. Moringa Oleifera is also often referred to as the Tree of Life. Moringa, the horseradish tree, is considered the most vitamin-rich plant on Earth. It originates from the Himalayan region, where it is known as the “miracle tree,” “green diamond,” and “tree of immortality.” Moringa contains large amounts of natural chlorophyll and has a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids: Omega 3, 6, 9. In addition, Moringa contains a lot of protein. With over 90 nutrients, Moringa is one of the most valuable plant species.
How is Moringa used and taken?
In its countries of origin, mainly the fresh leaves, fruits, seeds, and tuberous root are used. In Europe, however, Moringa is more commonly used in the form of powder from dried leaves. Moringa is also used in cosmetics.
The Moringa Oleifera plant contains:
- 7 x more Vitamin C than fresh oranges
- 4 x more Vitamin A than carrots
- 4 x more Calcium than milk
- 3 x more Potassium than fresh bananas
- 2 x more protein than soy
Moringa contains 18 out of 20 amino acids and also many secondary vital substances, including 46 antioxidants. Amino acids are the building blocks of the human body. Amino acids are needed for the formation of brain neurotransmitters, hormones, and muscles.
